    Sean Louis Allen, a Hollidaysburg area man convicted of the 2009 murder of a Penn State Altoona student, is asking U.S. District Court in Johnstown for a new trial. Attorney Peter Goldberger of Ardmore filed Allen's federal appeal Wednesday and raised several issues that had not been part of state appeals.

    A federal grand jury has recommended the indictment of an Altoona doctor, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney for Western Pennsylvania. The release from U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton states that a grand jury in Pittsburgh recommended 11 indictments for Dr. John Johnson, 53, for "willful failure to remit employment taxes."
