    A fire reported at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning extensively damaged two condominium units at the Tennis Island residential community on Wellesley Island. Wellesley Island Fire Chief Randy S. Beach said a bottom unit at the end of one of the buildings was between a 75 percent and a 100 percent loss, while the upper building sustained about 50 percent damage.

Though shows were not sold out as of 6:45 p.m., turnout Thursday at Canton's American Theater was steady for the evening's first screenings at 7 and 7:20 p.m. To the south, hundreds of people lined up at Watertown's Salmon Run Mall to catch the film on opening night, and special screenings were held at the Bay Drive-In in Alexandria Bay and the Town Hall Theater in Lowville.
