Born in North Adams on Feb. 28, 1926, son of Amedeo P. and Emilia "Mae" Grande Gigliotti, he graduated from Drury High School in North Adams and joined the service.

    Dear Editor: Although the weather did not behave the North Adams tree lighting did prove to be an enjoyable event for those who attended. Speaking of tree lightings, we would like to give a big thank you to Leon and Pat Lescarbo and Bob Senger for donating two fantastic trees to the downtown, to Mr. and Mrs. Claus who made their annual visit gifting 300 gift bags to the children who attended, the First Baptist Church for keeping us warm with hot cocoa, and for having their Sanctuary Choir sing holiday carols, Mass MoCA for providing sound, National Grid for its donation, Leon and Maryann King for their support, Berkshire Bank, Cascade School Supplies, and Big Y for their generous goodie bag donations.

    WILLIAMSTOWN >> In 2005 then-U.S.Congressman John Olver secured a $500,000 member item to have the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conduct a feasibility study of modifying the flood control project in Adams to improve fish habitat. In light of the current flood control mitigation project in North Adams, whatever became of the Adams initiative and should it or something like it be resurrected? The Hoosic River Watershed Association's Jerry Schoen and Dick Zona in 1989, replicated in 1999 by Dick Schlesinger and Ernie LeClaire, determined that the Adams flood chutes heated the river significantly, even more than Specialty Minerals' discharge of heated cooling water.
