    The Professional Bowlers Association is making plans for a festive anniversary season in 2018, 60 years after a group of 33 of the most famous bowlers in a bygone era met with Akron, Ohio, lawyer Eddie Elias and agreed to support a new professional bowling organization. As the PBA prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a variety of special tributes, including a new Go Bowling! PBA 60th Anniversary Classic tournament, a 60th Anniversary celebration dinner, the highlight of the 2018 season will be the unveiling of the "60 Most Memorable Moments in PBA History" as a part of the PBA's ESPN television schedule beginning on Feb. 4 and concluding on May 13, 2018.

    Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, the only bowling center in America that has hosted every Professional Bowlers Association major championship tournament over the years, has been selected as the site for a new event that will celebrate the organization's 60-year history: the GoBowling! PBA 60th Anniversary Classic. The new tournament, which will be open to all PBA members, will be held between Tuesday, Feb. 13, and Sunday, Feb. 18, when ESPN will televise the stepladder finals live at 1 p.m. EDT.

    PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber won the PBA50 DeHayes Insurance Group Championship presented by Pro Bowl West and Ebonite for his 100th overall title in PBA competition Tuesday, and Brian LeClair of Delmar, N.Y., survived challenges from Norm Duke and Parker Bohn III to win his first PBA50 Player of the Year crown. Weber, who was the top seed for the finals, won his first PBA50 Tour title of the season by defeating Duke in the title match, 279-255, for his 11th career title on the tour for players 50 years and older.
