Watch Yes Perform 'I've Seen All Good People' on 35th Anniversary Tour

In the spring of 2004, prog legends Yes hit the road in America to celebrate their 35th anniversary, playing marathon sets that mixed hits with fan favorites from the Seventies and Eighties Nobody knew it at the time, but this would be the last chance to see the band with keyboardist Rick Wakeman and frontman Jon Anderson, as both left the band not long after the tour ended. Either way, cameras were rolling when the tour touched down at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Massachusetts, on May 15th, 2004, and the result is Songs From Tsongas - The 35th Anniversary Concert , which comes out September 23rd on Blu-Ray, DVD and CD.

Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe - Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe - Esocteric Recordings

The background to this release 25 years ago was the latest bust up in the world of prog-rock, with Jon Anderson quitting Yes after a fall-out with Chris Squire and Trevor Horn. Yes had produced one of the eighties best examples of over the top prog-pop, with the wonderful 90125, but creative differences on the follow-up led to Anderson walking away.

Ian Anderson's Idea of Rock-n-Roll is More Complex Than You Know

Rock music is not typically thought of as a vehicle for profound commentary. Granted, the music of classic rock acts like Pink Floyd and Yes provide meditative grooves that are just as deeply poetic as they are good to listen to while stoned, but the progressive rock of Ian Anderson is just as whimsically laced with satire and gobbledygook as it is overtly didactic.
