I think it is up to Russia to decide where former historical figures should be and not up to the world to decide. History cannot be glossed over by pretending that Stalin did not exist and the good and bad of the era should be remembered... both to value the people and what was done to save the country of Russia... Statuary of a country is up to the people of the country and not foreigners... Stalin can be hated but he cannot be ignored...and he has a place in history. As long as the history is portrayed accurately, then there is no problem... don't historians say, that if you forget the past that you are bound to repeat it?

Ah! Another evil symbol of russia to re-appear..The hero of the insane and killers...

Interesting that Hitler's image and symbols are banned in Germany..But, Germany is more civilized.

The outright banning of politically incorrect images and symbols? How barbaric. In a truly free society...

But Abe has no clue what democracy truly is.

I agree... I would think that if the statue is in its traditional place then as the students are taught about the stalinist era they will see real symbols of the time....

Maybe its becasue STalin killed his own countrymen in the Soviet Union and only 5 percent of the country's population was ever communist in 75years.

On the other hand, Hitler went into other countries bestially, brutalized, sadistically tortured, and cruelly raped, murdered and genocided tens of millions of people in Eastern Europe and some in Westeern Europe as well...

And the fact that within 12 years a whopping 80 percent of the people of Germany belonged to the NAZI party and enthusiastically did Hitler's bidding to torture, rape, murder and genocide entire races of people in Eastern Europe...

And it is also true that freedom of speech is freedom of speech and baning symbols and statues etc. is just another form of censureship...

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Libra

You're ready to put a lot of energy and drive into the day, but you'll prefer it if you're doing things that have meaning and emotional significance for you. There's a chance that you could get quite heated over anything that strikes you as important now, and others could be taken aback by your vehemence. There might also be a minor dust-up over a financial matter.
