AMERICAN songwriter Jimmy Webb can boast an amazing back catalogue of classic pop songs.

THE old maxim that "the family that plays together stays together" has been tested to its limits by a few famously fractious musical clans such as the Wainwrights, the Jacksons and the Nolans.

Jimmy Webb is the only artist ever to receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration, including Song of The Year.

HE'S the legendary US singer-songwriter whose hits have been immortalised by everyone from Frank Sinatra and The Supremes to Glen Campbell and REM.

"After we moved we kind of lost the magic," said Nick Sprouse, manager of The Dame, the rock music hall uprooted from its original downtown location by the Centrepointe project, now closing for good by the end of the month.
