British Invasion recording stars were big in the UK prior to fame in U.S.

The so-called British Invasion didn't take over the U.S. pop music scene until early 1964, but not surprisingly, many of the recording artists that gained instant fame in America had already launched successful careers in the UK. For instance, Petula Clark had a long string of hits that began in 1954, and such groups as The Beatles , The Searchers, Gerry & The Pacemakers and Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas had previously reached the top of the charts in their homeland.

Show must move on

Now, as the Mamma Mia! international tour company moves on to Hong Kong, where the show opens next Tuesday, the Winter Gardens team are back in Blackpool with a bump. As reported yesterday, the show has taken A 3.3m at the box office as more than 100,000 people came to see it during the acclaimed 12-week summer season run.

New series of books on deep history of Beatles' Apple Records revealed

The first volume of "a is for apple," a series of exclusive books going deep into the history of the Beatles ' Apple Records , is almost finished and can be pre-ordered, the authors told Beatles Examiner Monday. The books, which they described as a four-part "tetralogy," are co-authored by Axel Korinth from Germany and Ed Dieckmann from The Netherlands.
