When 'Twelve Angry Men' opened on Broadway in 2004, many people thought it was a revival.
After all, 'Twelve Angry Men' is a title that has been knocking around since the 1950s. The production directed by Scott Ellis even received a Tony nomination as best revival of a play.
There was just one problem: It wasn't a revival. 'Twelve Angry Men' had never been seen on Broadway.
The classic jury-room pressure-cooker drama by Reginald Rose was initially produced as a live TV play for Studio One in 1954 with a cast that included Robert Cummings, Franchot Tone and the fine character actor Edward Arnold. Read more
