Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson is overrated

Full story: www.thedailypage.com

For the last month we've been hearing about Michael Jackson's greatness. It's all but settled that he's up there with the pop immortals in terms of musical artistry. With all due respect, I don't think that's true. I'll grant that Jackson sold a lot of albums, but so did the Backstreet Boys. He riveted our attention, but so does a five-car pileup. He recorded catchy pop songs, but wouldn't there have to be something more to establish him as a great artist? Jackson wasn't a musical innovator, like Ray Charles, James Brown or Chuck Berry. He didn't set new standards for vocal expression, like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding or Sam Cooke. He wasn't intellectually probing, like Bob Dylan. He didn't meaningfully capture the spirit of his era, like the Beatles. He didn't write innumerable melodies for the ages, like Stevie Wonder. Okay, he danced well, but I'll take the human quality of Elvis Presley's gyrations over Michael's machine-like movement any day. [OUCH! That's gonna leave a mark, huh? -ed. ]

Two words come into mind B.S

But.. atleast you're speaking your own opinion, however I really can't agree with Elvis's gyration (one move at that) surpassing Michael Jacksons complex dance moves.

I don't know anything about all those people apart from their talents (for some, a matter of preferences) but I know that MJ is a wonderful human person and this is my comment. Like it or not.

Really? What was wonderful about it? His manic/depressive personality? His long-term drug abuse? His penchant for hanging around with scam artists and reprobates? His broken promises (see: Hurricane Katrina)? His lies? His manipulation of the media? His soaking of his f'loons for more and more and more money for less and less and less work?

Please, elaborate.

And if you're going to use that old "he gave to charities" line, please cite the charities and the Forbes listing that his "generosity" appears on, please. The Guinness Book will not be acceptable as proof of squat since Wacko's own "people" told them about how magnanimous their pedo-employer was.

Actually, it's two letters.

That aside, the damn f'loons won't get the "robot like" reference at all. Wacko had to be choreographed within an inch of his life* because none of it was spontaneous or joyful.

Jackson was the McDonald's burger of world class musical cuisine, he sold a lot but wasn't really very good for you.

Blah, blah, blah...as time passes his stuff will be relegated back to the sale bins at Walmart. A short time ago, the brief revival of the "Wiz" suddenly disappeared when the "Watchmen" hit the stands. The other entertainers mentioned in the article will continue to be out there because they deserve it.

"...his struggles...are not and will never be the focus..." Get out much...try reading the majority of the articles on this forum...the associated comments are coming from all over the world...duh, that's a hint.

The profound and catastrophic effect the extortion-motivated molestation allegations had on Michael Jackson’s mental health, physical vitality and career from 1993 cannot be underestimated. But for these spurious claims, culminating in his explicit and total vindication in the infamous 2005 trial, the House of Congress would now be passing Resolution 600 as a matter of course and the voices of King and O’Reilly would be seen and heard as those belonging to a minority. But the fact is, that allegations of this nature have extraordinary lingering power and it a typically pervading truth that many people doubt the objectivity of verdicts in celebrity cases. In addition, Michael Jackson’s very individualistic personal image and lifestyle coupled with the modern media tendency to continuously cycle old ‘ dirt ‘ and give it gravitas by using rent-an-expert professionals to discuss the most flimsy speculations on every show going in town, has meant that despite Michael’s proved innocence before an overwhelmingly conservative jury, it has been it difficult for many to move past the events of 2005. It is beyond tragedy, that the young boy / young man we saw innocently give his heart and his talent to the world over the years was subjected to the tide of unprecedented legal and emotional attacks that ultimately proved impossible for him to surmount. Now, Aphrodite Jones, Geraldo, William Wagener, Thomas Mesereau, Michael’s own family and countless millions across the world are coming together – albeit via seperate avenues – in a growing global movement powered by a sense of long-overdue outrage and determination that the great wrong Michael endured while he lived should and must be exposed. By anyone’s standards, to go through what Michael did from 1993 must have been harrowing, but for a person of Michael’s undisputed sensitivity and undeniable compassion for children to be the subject of such sustained and public attack, must surely have been the greatest of agonies. Please avail yourself of the balanced, informed and true facts that are now out there for general consumption. Read Aphrodite Jones book ‘ The Michael Jackson Conspiracy’ forewarded by Thomas Mesereau – and understand for yourself, the enormity of what he suffered.
Supporting Resolution 600 and/or – more ambitiously perhaps, prosecuting Tom Sneddon for gross waste of taxpayer’s money and falsifying of evidence ( one of claims made by Jones and tactitly confirmed by Mesereau,) won’t bring Michael Jackson back, but it would undoubtedly restore integrity to his reputation and, allow the world to view his humanitarian contribution with the respect and dignity it deserves. For the future generations who will come after us who will only ever know Michael as a voice and figure on a screen and can never hope to fully appreciate the converse private gentleness yet transcendent power of this man as a performer and person; it will be the success of our efforts now in demanding that Michael be entered into the history books in the right and compaasionate way – that will make the difference. To think this cause is futile is not to understand, that in truth, Michael represented the child he continually asked us to protect and love. In summary, I ask us all to remember the words of Abrahm Lincoln:

‘ The probabilty that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us form the support of a cause we believe to be just.’

Please support Resolution 600.

For Michael.

Idiot! The author is just flat out wrong. No one said anything about those other artists not being innovators...but if you ask almost every single one of the entertainers the author mentioned, either before they died or if they are still alive now, they would tell you what an amazing talent Michael Jackson was. Think of all the other tortured artistic masters...Michele Angelo, Van Vogh, George Orwell, Tennesee Williams, Beethoven, Hemingway, Kirk Coban....on and on and on. They were gifted, they were tortured and they all felt unloved and had difficulty with substance abuse. Michael Jackson sang in an amazing range, wrote all types of music, was an amazingly gifted danced and choreographer, an artist, and so much more.. his accomplishments are just starting to be unveiled. This author simply doesn't know what he's talking about. He was just writing to get a reaction...as I am sure he will from more then just me.

Comparing Jacko to "Michele Angelo" is like comparing Howdy Doody to Shakespeare.

The gig is up; Jackson had free will, he was the primary participant in his own destiny. Public appeals to sympathy will never change the fact.

You know: This constant moralising that you do D.I. That could well be a product of your perverted, Christian education. Combined with that typical plastic, chauvinistic American arrogance. A deadly combination.
But I think it´s more then just that. I think 65 years ago you would have made a great fascist. I really believe you would have been one of Hitlers most dedicated soldiers. Seriously.
Like I said before. Try to find help as soon as possible, before you make the lifes of your ´loved´ones into a hell.

(Oh, and get a job, idiot)

Wacko Jacko, the has-been was a bold face liar, a drug addict who slep with little boys, turned himself into a freak and never paid his bills. Hopefully those purchased children will be able to have a normal life that their daddy denied them.

I was thinking; You ARE aware of the fact that you are constantly preaching, aren´t you. I mean, you must see that you are infact behaving like your own grandfather, nagging. (your grandfather who, like your father, was probably occasionally wearing a white sheet).

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
