If you think this is interesting, I've got a better one for you. It's about the guy who edited a bunch of memorable Hollywood movies. So it's from his rare perspective.
Author Ralph Rosenblum goes into all the dark details of working with first time movie producer Mel Brooks in making the film "The Producers." You will look at Mel Brooks in a totally different way from the seemingly carefree imp he is. He's a muthuh! The book is called "When the Shooting Stops, the Editing Begins." Mel Brooks is not the only director he worked with. He goes way back to editing "The Louisiana Story" that was distributed to schools all across the country. He worked with a very indecisive writer/producer, who is heralded as a fantastic moviemaker. The stories about working with directors and producers with big egos is fascinating. You won't learn any editing secrets here. But you will find out what a film editor goes through. And the film editor is rarely lauded. But the film editor is the person who actually puts the movie together! I see that Amazon has the book available! Outstanding! |
