Geoff Muldaur Takes Texas Sheiks On The Road
For decades, singer-songwriter Geoff Muldaur has been reinterpreting blues and jazz standards of the '20s and '30s. Today, we'll play some of the tracks from Muldaur's new album, Texas Sheiks, and he'll perform some songs live.
At least that's Maria Muldaur's take. "Jug band is the perfect good-time music for economic hard times," said Muldaur, who began her singing career 46 years ago with the Even Dozen Jug Band and, more famously, with Boston's Jim Kweskin Jug Band.
My interview with Maria Muldaur lasted just one question. I simply asked "America's First Lady of Roots Music" why she decided to return to the jug band music that she played at the outset of her career 46 years ago.
