Even though the winds of change headed by be-bop and hard bop had begun to change the musical landscape during the 1950s and 1960s, the big bands were still riding a good wave of popularity.

I'm ashamed to say that until a couple weeks ago I didn't immediately associate the 1963 hit 'It's My Party' with the woman who sang it, Lesley Gore.
