At their most recent board meeting, Sanilac County commissioners voted to raise their salaries by as much as 33% and gave the chairman of the road commission a 38% boost to his wage. via The Times Herald

“It affects you, knowing that they were here then doing what you are doing now. I think it's pretty amazing.”

Jim Townsley was looking for a place to start a church when he drove into town more than 30 years ago.

At the time, Southington was small but growing. Townsley, a native of Indiana who had recently completed his training as a minister, liked what he saw and decided he would start his church here.

What Townsley did not know was that he was coming to a town where he could trace his own roots as a Baptist minister. Buried just a few miles from his Central Baptist Church, in a neglected cemetery, are men who played a key role in the first Baptist churches in this country during the 1700s. Read more
