First KC performance of first English opera on period instruments Friday
The Kansas City Baroque Consortium joined by lutes, baroque guitars, and recorders will perform John Blow 's opera, Venus and Adonis, Friday, August 3 at 8:00 pm in a concert setting at Gano Chapel on the William Jewell College Campus in Liberty, Missouri.
John Blow's Venus and Adonis is a cautionary reproach to the old saw "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." Absence can also make the life grow shorter, as Venus learns to her detriment.
