I'm sure the tax considerations were taken into account months ago. I'll let the IRS/DOR conduct the audits (if any.) Anyway, what taxes would have been collected if JT had decided to sit on his deck, drinking tea and strumming his guitar? The Berkshire Eagle, since it printed the story, now has the obligation of following through to make sure it happens and to verify by seeing a copy of the cancelled check. Otherwise, whose to say it's going to happen? And why did BSO and Taylor feel obligated to flak this story in the first place?

Heller, do I LOOK like those people to you?
The question was (more or less) serious: If Taylor had not decided to do 5 shows at Tanglewood this weekend and instead stayed home, goofing off; how much money does the IRS collect?
For a hint, read Atlas Shrugged.
I'm not a huge fan, but Rand raised an interesting question.

It's been a long time (I think you'll agree on this) since the Eagle has had any diligence in follow-up stories. Besides, it's too early to worry about where the prospective money goes, and why, because the shows haven't happened yet. and April 15 is more than seven months away. Do you feel that The Eagle should hold Obama's feet to the fire about campaign promises? Should the Eagle ask to see Jerry Lewis' telethon checks? How about an audit of American Cancer Society since they just fired their only paid employee in Berkshire County?
