A Steinway & Sons piano that belonged to legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz has been touring the country, and on Tuesday evening, the piano was featured in West Point for a reception hosted by the Mississippi State University College of Education and Department of Music.

Since Carnegie Hall opened in 1891, a Who's Who of icons have performed at the legendary New York venue, including pianist Vladimir Horowitz's sold-out 1965 recital and Groucho Marx's 1972 appearance at the twilight of his career.

Opening ceremonies for the Lee Piano Competition will feature a recital by competition guest artist Dr.

Gary Horowitz, professor of physics at UC Santa Barbara, and Ken C. Macdonald, professor emeritus of marine geophysics and earth science, have been elected fellows of the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Tenth International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz is held in Kyiv April 17 through 25 This year the competition brought together 83 pianists from 12 countries.
