I feel his pain. The rhetoric and lies pushed by the right are getting close to giving me an aneurysm.

Better not do too much reporting, Pioneer Press, or he'll get in a huff and move to Mongolia. As you can tell, I can't stand the guy, but neither do I wish him ill health.

Incredible.

I can see that most of the comments here are written by shallow-minded, insensitive clowns who don't know art from a football.

Any literate person may not agree with all of Keillor's personal and political views but there is no doubt that he has contributed more to literature than any 100 people slopping down their bad grammar and obtuse viewpoints on this thread.

Keillor is one of the precious few authentic story tellers we have left on this planet. He's created a clean, musical Wobegone world that is as real to millions of people as Sunday dinner with the folks and as colorful as the land of Oz.

Keillor's a latter-day Will Rogers, Studs Terkel and Jack Benny in one person.

As a fellow human, the man had a stroke. All you good "Christians" out there should take a look in the mirror. While you're there, ask yourself what you've created in your lives that has touched millions of people?

It takes time and concentrated talent to sculpt something worthwhile. Any fool with a hammer (or a keyboard) can smash it.

BTW. I don't know Keillor personally.

I like this picture of him with a sort-of beard. I think he's gotten to that point in his career where a beard will help him garnish the respect he deserves for a life of literary achievement. Makes him look a lot less goofy in general.

Get well soon, GK.

Oops, that was supposed to be "garner," not "garnish." Though the beard itself is a nice garnishing.

I remember Garrison way back in the 70s ... and he was funny ... downright hilarious. His first radio show was a gem. Then something happened. Fame perhaps.

Some out-of-towners wonder why we don't revere him. I just tell them about Garrison threatening the Summit Ave neighbors, who simply wanted a modest addition to their home, with a BIG lawsuit.

Ad Lindsey Lohan as a singer??! Please ...

Perhaps this medical problem will bring GK back to earth again and he and I can have a better relationship again.

Get well soon, Mr Keillor.

I graduated from Anoka High School in 1962. During my sophmore year, I remember a tall and lanky Gary Keillor in the hall at the old AHS on 5th Avenue in Anoka.

You should probably learn to spell "Diogenes" if you plan to use it as a screen name.

Gee I hope Gary reads your post, it's so well written and thoughtful. Do you think that he will try to find out who you are and ask your opinion on the magical world of Wobegon he has created. You are so insightful and use such big words like "obtuse" and "clowns". You so wonderful, thank you for being such an open minded human being.

GK-One of the most boorish individuals with whom I've ever come in contact. Even my 86 year old grandmother (who was at the encounter) was stunned at his rudeness to the flight crew.(She didn't even know who he was. She simply saw a man behaving in an extremely poor manner.)

That being said, the guy is a tremendous storyteller and writer, and I wish him a full and speedy recovery. Perhaps a health scare like this will help him to remember where he came from.

Daily Horoscope for November 29

Aries

How you feel about your values and how your associates feel may not mesh too well today; avoid conversations about morals and scruples. Of course, you could be a politician or a religious worker, in which case you may be tiring of your own rhetoric. It's hard to be good all the time, especially when everyone else seems to be having a jolly time being bad.
