For late writer, Source of the Nile' leads to Tupelo

We met reporter Scott Morris in Tupelo years after speaking to him on the telephone from Ireland.
Yes the Elvis World for Elaine Dundy must have come as an eye-opener. The sophisticated New Yorker not knowing Elvis Presley till 1977 is an example of how insular some people are!

There are miseducated people like that writing for "The Irish Times" :-)

Mind you I did not discover L V Beethoven till I was 22, but I was searching!

"The Elvis World" has a nice ring to it..... I feel a poem coming on :-)

I find it hard to believe that she said she never heard of Elvis. I have never met a single person in my life who did not know who Elvis Presley was.

It's possible to be quite ignorant of people outside your own personal culture. See the article on the link for an example.

Dundy probably did see and even hear an Elvis song or two, but she took little notice. That does happen when people do not stray far from their own culture.

EVERYONE should know about Beethoven's marvellous music..but do they?:-)
