Fusions of classical music and vernacular styles are a dime a dozen these days. But a wailing klezmer clarinet soaring and sobbing above an orchestra string section, with drums and electric bass laying down a rock-funk beat in the basement, is still a pretty exotic sound to encounter in the concert hall.
