Chestnut plays Wichita: Piano trio at jazz festival

Lisa Hittle wanted to present a special concert to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Friends University Jazz Festival, so she invited one of her favorite pianists -- playing in her favorite small-group setting -- to perform.
The Cyrus Chestnut Trio will play at Friends University on Saturday, the culmination of the festival that begins Friday with performances by 28 high school big bands.
Chestnut -- with bass player Ben Williams and drummer Neal Smith -- will fly to Wichita from New York City on Saturday morning. They will perform as a pure jazz trio, just the three of them, without a backing big band. Read more
