I had no idea who or what the Diablo Swing Orchestra were when I picked this album up, but I enjoyed the previous decade's swing revival so I thought I'd give it a shot.

This week, as if by some strange cosmic alignment, two large-looming ghosts from Oregon music history return to Portland for encore performances.

The Cherry Poppin' Daddies released two new albums this week, both a departure from the band's infamous swing sound.

I don't think I can handle being a football fan much longer. It takes too much energy! Think about it: Every Sunday you have to sit on the couch, start drinking beer at 1 p.m. and keep drinking until you can no longer read the scoreboard.

Let's face it, Gibson Guitars' Zoot Suit SG maybe the ugliest guitar we've seen in the last several years.

Remember when "Zoot Suit Riot" and the Cherry Poppin' Daddies ushered in a brief mainstream flirtation with swing in 1997? The Kinetic Playground offers a nice time warp tonight, as the Oregon band with an emphasis on lyrics and flashy performances will be playing to promote ska-punk compilation Skaboy JFK .
