BRAVOBRAVO!: The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, the genre-bending band that won fleeting fame during a late-'90s revival of swing music, will be the star attraction at arts fund-raiser BravoBravo! The elegant affair, featuring food and drinks from area bars and restaurants, raised more than $200,000 in 2008.

You can raise a glass and help your neighbor during Detroit's Big Bar Night. Patrons at three downtown establishments can buy a $5 wristband that will entitle them to special food and drink offers.

BravoBravo! is a popular fundraiser benefiting Michigan Opera Theatre and the Detroit Opera House.

I'm not usually much for gimmick bands, but when Phoenix's paltry post-holiday concert calender has us planning to review Cherry Poppin' Daddies and Reel Big Fish within a week, options are limited.
