The University of Iowa will present 'Opera Without Elephants! A Celebration of the Singer-Actor's Process' a free program of opera scenes by composers including W.A. Mozart, Benjamin Britten, Stephen Sondheim and Kurt Weill, at 7:30 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Saturday at The Englert Theatre.

One Sunday afternoon in March, I was sitting in the balcony of Heinz Hall watching John Adams conduct the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a performance of "Four Sea Interludes" from Benjamin Britten's opera "Peter Grimes." The selection came to a thunderous, rousing conclusion.
