Bow Wow, Omarion find star power in numbers
Face Off (Sony) They co-headlined a tour called 'Scream IV,' which inevitably recalled a string of slasher movies, and the title of their first full CD together, Face Off , comes straight from a John Woo shoot-'em-up. But really, rapper Bow Wow and singer Omarion aren't trying to kill each other. The movie references are just a bit of brand sampling to remind people of this twosome's star power.
Bow Wow, who dropped a 'Lil' from his stage name, and Omarion, formerly of the boy band B2K, get along nicely, in fact. Face Off (Sony) is a likable hip-hop/r&b pairing that grew out of their tour and a hit single, 2005's Let Me Hold You . Their willingness to expand the collaboration to an entire album pays off: The exchange of raps and melodies, coupled with generally strong production, yields at least three radio-worthy singles, especially the genial Girlfriend , with its soulful, catchy-as- Chopsticks piano line.
