Firearms Industry Remains Critical of California Governor's Signing of Ammunition Bill

Full story: NSSF

NEWTOWN, Conn - " Facing his lowest approval ratings in his six years as governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger today attempted to mitigate fall-out from his decision to sign into law legislation he vetoed just five years earlier establishing ammunition registration in the Golden State.

You have until Feb 10th to buy bulk ammo online. Time to stock up! Fill those ammo cans and be prepared like a boy scout.

What about .50 BMG or "machinegun" ammo, Frank? Do you still think that it is insane? We should not tag and ID those 20 mile "airplane killer" rounds?

My FAL shoots the same ammo as the M-60 and the .30 SAW the military uses now. My Mini-14 shoots the same ammo as the M-16/M4 and SAW. Should that ammo be banned? Both fit many bolt action and single shot rifles.

What about the ammo that is used in the H&K MP5? That is a full-auto submachinegun that sprays bullets like a fire hose? Oh yeah, they shoot 9MM and .40 cal. Just like a large percentage of all semi-auto handguns in use in the US today. Oops!

Your arguments are simplistic and too easily refuted with even the slightest thought. Oh well. Never mind. You are done here.(right!)

I forgot to ask: what will you be fighting with? Your Sharps 45-90 or your trusty Winchester 30/30? I'm sure that you do not have any of those scary and evil military style weapons. Then again, the Sharps was the Assault weapon of its day. So that rules them out too. Right?

So, you admit to having a high power sniper rifle capable of hitting people at over a kilometer and hitting aircraft as they land or take off? I guess your handicapping it with the cheap sniper sight makes it okay. And all of the military arms? My goodness. Why do you need to have more than one handgun and why do you need a military caliber? Are you planning on murdering a mall full of innocent children and their mothers?

BTW, it is a magazine, not a clip. The Garand uses a clip. Your Winchester uses a magazine.

Your question is one which shows just how much you know about both firearms and the types of people who own them. I'm sorry to tell you but most criminals who use firearms in the commission of a crime do not have the monetary ability to purchase >50 BMG type firearms. In fact, I don't ever recall hearing about a .50 rifle being used in any type of crime. The cost factor makes it out of reach for criminals, and the cost of the ammo alone is way too expensive.
I understand somewhat your concern, but your pick of a topic for your comment was senseless and unrealistic.

Ah, once again. Most rifles can be considered "high powered!" And why does someone who owns a rifle with a scope have to be someone who is going to "shoot down airplanes" or "kill mothers and children at the mall?" Seriously......your comments alone show your ignorance about the topic. Maybe he owns such items in case people like you, semi-liberal communist types, attempt to take away his right to own those very items!

I was being beyond absurd trying to draw one of our resident morons, Frank, into making more of his stupid pronouncements. I may not be the most educated gun person here but I am way beyond making the mistake of believing the drivel I posted. I apologize for any confusion caused to any sane posters on this system. Check out my other posts to see if how i actually think.

Now I feel guilty for calling you a moron. I am not conservative "across the board". I am a Libertarian. I am socially liberal and financially/geo-politically conservative. I support gay rights and many other ideas that Liberals believe are their pet issues and I support no foreign intervention, no fist strike, no foreign aid without a real and valuable return and really small federal government like the real conservatives did before the Neo-Cons co-opted the GOP made them Demonrat-lite.

I am on the fence with abortion. I feel that it is in some ways the mother's right to choose but I would really prefer that there were a lot more adoption plans and financial support to encourage women to carry to term and give up their babies. Abortion when the fetus is viable is murder. Late term abortions should only be used if the fetus is so badly messed up that its life will be short and brutal. I support it in the same way I support euthanasia on demand (death with dignity) for terminally ill people. No one should be forced to live a life of nothing but unending pain and struggle.

Neo-Cons are funny critters. They are extreme Right religious-wise but far left in many other ways. It is like they found all of the worst things about the two main parties and adopted it all as their platform.

I have the right not to speak out too. I will say this much (as I have said it in other posts) I have an FAL, an AK, a Mini-14 and some .45 pistols. I have other firearms but the exact list is not anyone else's business.

I have been shooting since I was 13. I learned a lot in the US Army back in 73-74 and I learned a lot more after I got out. I have taken several gunsmith classes and practical shooting classes so I know guns from the inside out. I have been involved in the passing of CCW laws (which I feel are Constitutionally unnecessary but it is a reality that we must deal with what we have. Maybe one day we can drop the need and go VT or AK. I am working with groups to push those laws too.)

Suffice it to say, I am NOT in violation of any local or federal law.
