The Shrink and the Terrorist

Full story: www.realclearpolitics.com

There have been two views on what happened last week when Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire on unarmed military colleagues at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 12 soldiers and one civilian. The politically correct version blames a lonely soldier's personal meltdown, precipitated by the fear of being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. The politically incorrect view portrays Hasan, the son of Palestinian immigrants, as a homegrown Islamic terrorist, whether he coordinated with any terrorist groups or not. ... By now, however, it seems pretty clear that Hasan perpetrated what Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., called on Fox News possibly "the most destructive terrorist act to be committed on American soil since 9/11." And guess what? Most Americans are not stupid -- they can process that information with the clear understanding that Hasan does not represent your average Muslim or your average Muslim serving in the U.S. military. His own words as he opened fire -- "Allahu Akbar" -- and perhaps his online screeds show who he was. He acted not as a stressed-out shrink, but a violent and twisted extremist.

For the time being, we're hearing a lot of opinions on Major Hasan. In due time, Hasan will be talking and answering a lot of questions, and the opinions will give way to facts. We need to know the why of it and to preclude this sort of tragedy ever happening again.

US troups are risking, and sometimes losing, their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq to defend Muslims and their democratic rights. How have we allowed the anti-American storyline to take hold that we fighting against Islam? Why would any Muslim member of the US Armed Forces have a conscientious objection to participating in the defence of the people of Afghanistan or Iraq?

The battle is between Democracy and Theocracy - and somehow the Democrats have allowed their hatred of Bush to drive them into defense of Theocracy over Democracy. Or is it just their natural distrust of US power, unless it is used to jail those who refuse to buy health insurance policies that conform to the requirements designed in Washington?

Hasan is a terrorist. The army knew he was a problem and did nothing but give him a promotion. Our country is crumbling from within.

I can see you are not celebrating diversity.
.
Fort Hood was a product of liberal thinking.
.
This happens everyday in American cities, Fort Hood just brought it to the fore in a forcefull, painful way.
.
I think our President needs to give the problem a shout out. General Casey feels it was just a bad day in da Hood.

Until he opened fire, Major Hasan was not a terrorist, he was an extremeist. The Army, like this forum, tolerates extremeists.
The question is, why did he cross the line from extremeist to terrorist and how can we identify others like him before too late. For now, that's conjecture.

When the priests were caught molesting kids in Catholic Churches, every liberal was in an uproar. The Catholic Church was sued for billions of dollars because they were held culpable of the crimes.

Now we have this islamic terrorist, Hasan, who executed 13 good citizens and wounded dozens more on U.S. soil.
He wore the robes of a muslim clerik and went on a jihad binge and murdered these people.

Why is there not an uproar against the muslims/islamics? Should they not be held culpable ? Should they not be sued for billions ?
Or is the act of murder less of a crime than molestation ?

Or is it because your president Hussein Obama is a radical muslim himself?

We know that Hussein Obama is anti-Christian and anti-Jewish. Many are convinced he is the anti-Christ.

The D.C. sniper, Mohammed, who was also a radical muslim, was exetuted today. He and his son went on a jihad binge several years ago and killed dozens of people. The media made no mention that they were muslim. They followed the doctine of the koran and executed infidels.

Now Mr. Mohammed has met his 72 virgin camels in allah's stable.

The red flags have been raised by Hasan for the last year and a half. But every one was too afraid due to political correctness to follow through. It is sad that the General cares more about defending diversity, then the death of our young men. It is sad that our president is more outraged and opinionated by the arrest of a black man by a white cop, then by the death of many by a terrorist. It is sad that the media whats to blame gun rights, the army, and pre-post traumatic stress, then Islamic terrorism. It is sad that some in our country are willing to sacrifice other Americans in the name of "political correctness". Try to imagine if Bush was president, what would people be saying? Why should it be different now? We have the same media, the same reporters. When can we put away or fears, and start making this country safer for Americans?

You've been pre-programmed with code words by the mighty Rush. Liberal - you don't even know the meaning of the word. Political correctness - a fairly recent addition to the litany of hate and misdirection.

Aren't you going to tell me I'm not a Christian? Aren't you going to tell me I'm not patriotic?

What's the matter? Are you getting sleepy after a long hard day of spreading malice, hatred and racism? Poor baby.

For the record, I am a Christian. I am a conservative. I am white. I'm patriotic enough to volunteer in my school,my community and in my political party.

But, since I don't agree with your hateful diatribes, I have no doubt you'll be yelling liberal, liberal, liberal. Bull shit.

President Bush visited the familys in private. President Obama only shows up when the cameras are running. And he never shows up when they are killed in combat, only helicopter accidents, and mass killings by terrorist. Govener Daily blamed the gun laws of America for this. The democrats are the first to push their point when some one dies. When the bridge fell here in Minnesota, the Democrats were blaming people for not paying enough taxes 4 hours after it happened...please...give me a break!

The army does NOT tolerate extremist! Why did they tolerate this one? Will he be charged with a hate crime?

In private? Then how do you know about it? Apparently, it was VERY WELL publicized.

And about damn time Bush showed his face when Americans are hurting, instead of flying over New Orleans playing his guitar after Katrina struck.

If you don't like The President, then vote against him next time he runs for public office. That's the American way.

It's not the American way for you to try to make political capital out of the tragedy our military families are enduring. It is a despicable thing to do.

The people who do that; including the author of the article, the rifht wing bloggers who carried the article, and the Topix editor who posted it; they are all as patriotic as Nidal Malik Hasan.

To them, it's not the tragedy or the mourning that matter, they only care about their partisan politics and weaseling for some "advantage". There are investigations underway by the Army that might take weeks or months to complete. Decent people would wait until the facts are discovered & released, but these are not decent people.

My comments are not political, they're social.
.
Our military failed the people who died. They didn't have to die. They died because the military was more concerned about appearing inclusive instead of appearing as delivering a just decision about the fitness of Hasan to serve. See General Casey's comments. Casey is a blockhead
.
Liberalism has produced the ultra sensitivity that has resulted in the deaths of many. Maybe they should face up to it instead of doing like the military did and pretend the problem doesn't exist.

people, people, people. Obama doesn't want to hurt the feelings of muslims.

Obama continues his diatribe of self American hate.

It started in Europe, America was "derisive, dismissive and arrogant".

Obama has nothing good to say about America and unfortunately he doesn't want to step on any toes as he wants the peace process to go forward AT ANY COSTS.

Are all muslims evil..no. Was this muslim evil..yes. And it is the political correctness, that degrades the lives lost and the injuries sustained.

Shameful people who will say anything to "protect" their leader, Obama.

Will more people report, or will they censor themselves because of institutionalized PC.

Obama's words ring hollow.
