That's a dismaying headline. Leveling blame like this immediately after a defeat is not good PR. These quoted gay leaders should acknowledge some realities: Selling fear and hatred of difference is a lot easier than selling equality. Interracial marriage and even the pretense of basic civil rights took decades. There has still been insufficient grass roots organizing before some of the wilder moves towards marriage equality, i.e., Newsom.

The g/l/b/t community has been over optimistic all along just because its right about marriage equality, and this over optimism has led to poor strategy in some quarters.

Unfortunately being right doesn't often have much to do with the short and intermediate term outcome.

The swish around look SO frigging gay. Why not just be NORMAL looking and act NORMAL. Heterosexuals do not go out of their way to look and act weird. Why do the gays feel the need to make themselves look so flamboyant and like drag queens. I think THIS is holding back ANY effort to EVER get gay/lesbian marriages to be legal. As long as they ACT gay they will NEVER have my support or the support of MILLIONS......
