I don't know about this. Sounds like a pipedream to me.

Consider the fact that if we did manage to rid the US of guns that's not going to really do any good if, say, a country like North Korea decides to come on over and shoot us all up knowing full well we can't defend ourselves. Also, consider the fact that if Mexico, Cuba, Canada or any other nearby nations don't outlaw guns they can easily be smuggled in by the criminally minded... I mean after all.. if they can smuggle in people and drugs why not guns? ALSO how can we "weed out the criminals over time" when they're just going to (get ready because this may shock you) SHOOT THE POLICE OFFICERS WHO WOULD HAVE NO GUNS!?!?!

I've never seen a gun magically grow legs, run up to someone and shoot them. That decision is made by the person doing the shooting. And you know what? I would bet my bottom dollar that anyone who is even willing to shoot another person would have no problem whatsoever killing with a knife, baseball bat or whatever they could get their hands on. Can't blame the gun for what a human being does with it. Do you suppose we should outlaw pencils to eliminate hateful writing? A little common sense goes a long way.
