Russia Opens Route for U.S. to Fly Arms to Afghanistan

Full story: www.nytimes.com

The Russian government has agreed to let American troops and weapons bound for Afghanistan fly over Russian territory, providing an important new corridor for the United States military as it escalates efforts to win the eight-year-old war, officials on both sides said Friday.

Russia has decided to compete with Georgia and Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and provide these transportation routes instead of fighting losing battles with former satellites that have cooperated with the US in recent years.
You better believe that Russia expects obama to kiss its feet for the next 4 years in return!

This will be Obama's war. It may have started 8 years ago but now it is escalating. These 3rd world countries now see us as weak since Obama took office and there are going to be buttons pushed from many directions, i.e., Iran, N. Korea. I just hope that someone with brains in our military machine has control of these situations and not some doofus in the current administration.

You go fight "Obama's War" if you like, with him making decisions directly from the Whitehouse, just like LBJ did for the Vietnam War, instead of allowing the trained and seasoned veteran military leaders do their job the way they were trained!

Obama has ZERO experience at waging war.
He has ZERO experience at diplomacy, which has been evidenced in the news.
He's just a Megalomaniac out to make a name for himself.

The Russians wouldn't do it for Bush, because they have ulterior motives at this moment, that many people are too militarily naive' to recognize.

The Afghanies beat the Russians with the assistance of arms, weapons and training from the U.S.
If anyone is gullible enough to think that Russia's leader is suddenly warming up to Obama because he's so charismatic,,,you're deluded.

The Russians were trying to exercise military control over its former satellites and trying to thwart their deals with the US. The Russians got their butts kicked and were forced to pull out of disputed areas. They have now changed their tactics after they learned they couldn't be bullies and get away with it. George Bush's military agreements in the region are strong and durable. The Russians now want to be friends to avoid further humiliation. They also realize that obama can be bought off with a smile for the cameras and he will give the Russians what they want under the table.

Your right!
The United States is involved in a Vietnam-like war situation where the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are Unwinnable.

It's not only the Russians but the French who are helping to help these fools in the United States with their destruction. The Germans, the Italians and many others are some who'd like the imperium U.S. to fall to the forest floor too.

They are unwinnable because liberal democrats impose PC rules on our military ... like no shooting back if the enemy is in a mosque.
In vietnam were not allowed to use larger than 500 lb pound bombs incertain areas ... why? because they might collapse the VC tunnels that permeated the country.

take the PC rules off ... ban the media ... and turn the american military loose ... and we will have no trouble winning. You think the enemy plays by rules?

It seems that russian leaders take special delights in black war criminals and genocide women from ussmania.
Can they think over? Did they not learn during centuries of their all lost occupying wars and invasions - their policy of occupation lead always only to degradation of their country and their system and to real hard wars in which they get big kick in a..s and always - I, II world war, consequencesa of their plundering policy and will of conquests of the world ended always in ruining of their country. Why do people not learn on their own mistakes? The world does not probably come to an end on this generation and why do they want to produce enemies? Give freedom to Afghanistan, to other countries which want to be free. Afghansitan, Inguschetti, Tschetschenia - these countries are not russian ones and if russians live there - they are minority. If there are nuclear warheads or some native Russian citizens -they can take it to Russia and give peace to this region and these countries at last.

Yeah, I'm sure top on Medvedev's list is not the economy, foreign or domestic relations, but rather, to see the Americans get their 'azzes' kicked in Afghanistan. Maybe we should convince him to start a fight with Viet Nam that way we can see Russians get their 'azzes' handed to them. It's real life; not a Bond film.

The Iraq War was won last year with The Surge. Before that the US had never lost a single battle. The news media always wants to portray the negative to sell its papers. Good news doesn't sell. Media coverage of Iraq almost came to a halt as soon as the Surge began showing dramatic results. Afghanistan is a long term affair. The US has never lost a battle there either.
You seem to disregard the facts that both the Saddam Hussein government and the Taliban government were defeated and driven from power in less than three weeks by the US military.

Who are you to criticize the US? Red China has been completely unable to defeat Nationalist China in 60 YEARS.
Red China murdered 80 million of its own people to keep in power during that same 60 years. What kind of government is that?

Intelligent people don't believe the propaganda garble coming out of the United States these days, only the stupid and ignorant people in the United States believe this, because it's the only outlet for information for them. What else should they think, that the U.S. media is engaged in round-the-clock dis-and misinformation?

By the way, in Iraq, with Saddam as President, education was 100 percent free, and if a foreigner went to school in Iraq, then, these people would also be given a free education.
