We have to stop employer based health care. We have to end insurance companies cherry picking only healthy people. Everyone should be required to have some sort of plan. Payment for insurance could be adjusted for income just like income tax, but less. Denying people coverage for pre-existing conditions or charging so much more for those over 50 cause discrimination in the work place. The cost of insuring older Americans is very expensive. As a result, jobs disappear. I don't think we should have government run health insurance. There has to be some sort of common sense, free market approach.

We have to find away to provide minimal health care for the poor without burdening the middle class with the expense while exempting the wealthy.

80% want the health care systm over-hauled, yet they don't want universal, national health care. I wonder what they do want. I see no reason why we couldn't just extend Medicare to cover every American.

The problem now is that insurance company lobbyists are bribing Congress to leave everything just the way it is. Insurance companies are getting rich while they deny coverage for almost everything, and seniors pay a fortune for prescriptions.

I would think that AARP would be leading the way for Universal Health Care.

Why are so many people adamantly against "government" health care ?
The government has run Medicare for more than 40 years.

We need more prventitive health care facilities where people can get minor care at a reasonable cost or no cost for the poor. We need to pack up all these illegals and send them home. The ERs are overrun with them. I was in the ER with my wife annd no one was sppeaking English. They have at least two interpreters. They have to have them because they cant use family members or uncertified people. I worked in a world class hospital and we had 105 interpreters available. Using a family members as an interpreter is the fastest route to a law suit. We need to make more use of Nurse Practioners and Physician Assistants. Not all illnesses require a person to see a doctor. We need to make more economical use of the resources to where they are needed.

That is what they call universal health care...no one speaks the same language therefore you may get many surprise remedies...and the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing....

i want 100% socialized medicine. id pay a huge percent of my income to know that i will never have to worry about medical costs for the rest of my life, which would no doubt be longer with full on preventative care. plus id get a kick out of watching neo-cons kick and scream every time their tax dollars are spent on abortions, contraceptives, and hiv tests. but the overtly sadistic aside, it would be nice to know i dont have to rely on my job to give me healthcare, or go to some bullshit hmo for approval. when we are all healthier, we are all happier, more productive, and healthier equals wealthier. just check out gapminder.org , health begets wealth.

Health Insurance companies and prescription drugs companies should be audited on their prices etc. Everything is so dang expensive. Why? My family doctor charges less if you have no insurance. More if you do. Go figure....

fundamental change makes sense! universal or socialized makes no sense! universal/socialized is desired by bottom feeders who continue to push for being spoonfed rather than budgeting and paying their own way.

That sort of "scientific" social work ... does not work well. Sick is sick. Better and less "breakable" is to simply cover every-one and every physical illness. Make it "stiff" --- conscript doctors and dentists.

OTOH "crazys" get sent to the Utah desert ... no more rich *itches on pills.

Doctors would be encouraged to weed-out the riff-raff. Fat chicks would be required to spend 4-h/day on an "energy generating" bicycle. No fat-chicks in a satisfied society.

Why don't we just get fake Canadian Id Cards? Illegal Mexicans get fake U.S Id..why not U.S citizens get Canadian Id's?

oh..for those naysayers..My cousin is Canadian and she personally tells me that long waits for simple things like an MRI is BS. The only thing is if you need a certain test for a bump on your arm you will have to wait longer than a person with a broken arm or no arm; but 5 months (as I have heard) is just not real.

I am sure the waits are the same in ANY U.S hospital you go to. The sickest patients go first.

ps. Go to wiki or google and look up Universal (not "socialized") health care and you will see only 3 places in the world don't have some form of Universal Care; they are North Pole, South Pole and the Great U.S.A.(ha) Can you imagine people in Iraq and Afghanistan have complete coverage yet Americans do not!

If our government really cared about “we the people” it would have been done years ago!

The truth is our corrupt government has its universal health care system so “F” us.

Die don’t die, be sick don’t be sick (but dead is better), starve, go homeless, go jobless, drink dirty water, and eat toxic food, SO WHAT, BIG “F-ing” DEAL…

“We the People of the United States of America” better wake the “F” up before its toooo late.

Yes folks Medicare Medical and the VA work - this is the dreaded univ health care they you all are conditioned by corporate media to fear. Snap otu of it already.

We have to stop being so stupid. If the elites can keep us sick and poor they can control us much more easily or have you middle class conservatives not figured that out yet?

If we can provide roads and water and police and military then we should be able to provide some type of health care for our own people.

We, the middle class, pay for it already anyway in different ways. Make the rich pay their FAIR SHARE.

Support the CA Nurses Assciation.

Gee so we can shell out $15 billion in welfare checks for big oil,$30 billion for bearstern. NExt will be billions for Fannie Mae and Freddie mac, but we cant spend a dime on helping our own elderly.

Billions in welfare checks for the wealthy white conservative friends of bush, but zero for the poor.

What is wrong with you my fellow Americans?
