More doom and gloom reporting. America is better off now than it has ever been even with a so called oil war.

I bet the moderator will change the name of this one too and rewrite the article so no one reads my comments. they are not gloomy enough.

As I remaked to the last similar argument that was taken down by the moderator.

I have thre sons in the military. They are officers over there and in the air. My oldest recently flew over Asia and the middle east. He said the fireworks displays he saw by the poorest of the poorest families paled in comparison to our pirotechnic dispalys we are force to go to so our firemen do not get overworked.

He said we have not eveperienced a 100 year war or a 30 years war. History students would know this if they paid attention. We have not had any casualties in the so called oil war that would compare to WWI or WWII when we had to put down the axis of evil back then 60 years ago.

He is not worried about America even if his pick for president does not get elected. We have the missle and lazer technology to shoot down any nukes the middle east could hurle at us.

He says the peace and stability we bring to the rest of the world is wonderful. We teach their securuty forces how the exercize and do jumping jacks so they can take care of their own hoodlums, AKA terrorists. See the U Tube video for a demonstration of middle eastern securuty forces trying to do jumping jacks. Seeing is believing.

Today my 4th son is playing music on the violin, piano, and guitar at a fallen veterans memorial service. You should find something like it it your area and participate. I'm going with my other children to support our country and fallen vets.

Then I'm going to see my Father in Law who just survived a stroke. He is a Korean war vet! Hoo Raa! he is doing well like a good american soldier and is expected home soon.

WE have had worse times in America. Quit your wining and do your part-raise a family-you self absorbed winers.

What a load of bizarre, convoluted narcissism. And you call other people "self-absorbed"?

Your "oldest son" is obviously not in a position to know jack about what is happening on a global scale.

Wake the eff up. It's all about sky-rocketing oil prices and the disappearing dollar. The banks have already collapsed. I couldn't care less if you keep your feeble little head in the sand, but spare us your crazy BS.

What a great time for Bear Stearns 401K plans. I want everyone to start contributing to their 401K plans so they can get the shaft.

The whole economy was smoke and mirrors. Based on the fraudulent economic expansion, we have no where to go but down.
Nothing constructive was happening, the greed on Wall Street is doing a number on the entire world. Boy did those Investment Bankers stick it to everyone.

Now the Fed is getting into the Ponzi Scheme. Wonder when the printing presses are going to run out of ink. We are expanding our Money Supply faster than a pandemic. What about all the fat cats that walked away from the fray with hundreds of millions of dollars.

Is Ben Bernanke a " you are doing a great job Brownie" type of guy.

Money does not equate Brains. We can see that fully brought to us in Live Life. Boy I think I should invest in GOOG. Wonder when advertising revenues tank if GOOG is going to get a Fed Bailout.
Ad revenues will definitely tank, maybe the Fed can start an Advertising campaign on the shrinking dollar.

It could go like this.

Are those dollar bills crowding out your pocket?
We have the solution! Try our new miniature dollar bills. Your pocket will now be able to accomodate twice as many of our paper currency as last week. The cost comes at a price. Your smaller dollar will not be able to buy what it once did.
But wait! We will offer you at no additional charge, clothing with larger pockets and for women, purses. You have no choice but to act now.

I think you're stretching the security issue a bit...

This thread is about economics, not security. You have to be living in a very small box to think the economy is in good shape. I know dozens of people being directly affected in a very bad way by the cost of goods and services. Even the ones who are doing ok, have had to change their lifestyles to afford what used to be everyday purchases.

No doubt this financial crisis is going to be a bad one. Its to deeply entagled in everything. We can't even begin to talk recovery until the subprime crises is sorted out, and thats not even close to happening.

The decline of the dollar obviously will have very negative effects on the economy, as we import everything from CHINA, and that will get a bit more expensive. Oil prices are soaring to record highs, and while this is caused to a degree by a weak dollar, and speculators, the larger problem is that world production can't keep up with demand. Very serious problem for us down the road.

The end of easy credit, is going to kill us. We are a finance economy, unfortunatley. Credit will continue to be cut off, causing stagnation throughout all industries. Its laughable, looking back over the past 4 or 5 months as the financial press and the politicians wiggled around aknowledging the tough times ahead. I don't know anyone who know what they are talking about who didn't realize that the recession began as soon as the virtual ATM'S were ripped out of the economy.

It's beginning to feel like the US has entered the perfect storm.

We are occupying two nations using borrowed money. Our financial institutions are in so much trouble that the companies that carry their insurance are also in trouble.

We have corporations no longer offering pensions and those that were supposed to offer pensions are claiming Chapter 11 bankruptcy and dropping or cutting the pensions already earned. Then there are the thousands of insured people whose claims are being dropped as soon as they get sick while the hospitals emergency rooms are closing because so many uninsured can't pay for services.

We have millions of people that are homeless while thousand of homes sit unoccupied due to foreclosures.

Our US dollar is falling so fast those monies that use to purchase non essential goods is now being used to purchase gasoline.

Or nation is in big trouble and our politicians don't seem to understand that they are part of the problem.

Hey read the headlines today. Bush said that he is on top of it and that he is going to straighten everything out. Now that really scares the hell out of me. Yes Bernanke is a yes man who has no idea what he is doing. They should be raising interest rates. If people are smart they will close their 401K and bank accounts or they are going to lose everything. Don't believe it? Read the history (the true history) of the great deprssion.

Cant believe we are going to bail out Bear Stearn with our tax dollars. Another white washed elitest company gets bailed out because they cant manage their own finances.

Where are all the republicans screaming about no gov interference in business?

Where is the free market conservatives?

If a small business gets into trouble they go out of business.

Big taypayer funded welfare check for these fat white cats, but no funds for things like health care for the average american.

Are americans that stupid?

Let the company go under. Dont believe the hype.

BUSH, REID, AND PELOSI RECESSION AND INFLATION
The tyrannical Neo-Con/ Neo-Lib dominated Bush, Reid, and Pelosi government must start paying for the un-constitutional Iraq War, and the Paulson subprime mortgage lending and stock trading scam, by printing billions of dollars; thereby subjecting the government betrayed American People to systematic ruinous recession and inflation.
The Bush economic stimulus plan intentionally misleads worried voters into believing that the impending recession and inflation is being prevented from occurring. A just plan would be to sue those who systematically plotted and profited from the scam, for all of their illicit gains. This approach would have the added benefit of strongly deterring such heinous crooked behavior in the future. Is the justice system in America so incompetent that it cannot carry out justice in this rather simple case?
Dont even dare lump in others with the Republicans. We are in this mess because stupid conservatives put in the biggest crooks in history and have done nothing about them for 8 years.

The welfare check given to bear stearn is pathetic. Conservatives should stop complaining about helping the poor with our tax dollars when rich white fats cats get bailed out by us when they cant run their own businesses.

And the free market would say let this company fall.

I got no problem with the Republican that did not vote for bush twice. I do have a problem with the ones that voted for him twice and done nothing about him and now blame all of our problems on progressives, dems and bill clinton (everyone but themselves and bush).

That is a load of crap. Republicans need to be voted out in droves and if a small fraction of the conservatives that put them into power would pull their heads out of the sand and actually call out their leadership then things would change TODAY.

We are pretty stupid as common folk - going to use our tax dollars again to rescue the fat cats at the top while the average guy loses his home to foreclosure.
