This was a fundraising event by the Mike Thompson for Congress Committee. That committee used the event to raise money for a political campaign, borrowing the good aura of the organizations you named. These organizations are 501(c)3's, meaning contributions to them are tax deductible, but that they cannot participate in or contribute to political campaigns.
I would hate to see the IRS take away the tax-deductible status of these organizations; but I would like to see Mike Thompson and his campaign committee prosecuted for this. |

Agreed, Mike Thompson is a criminal. He supported the illegal invasion of of Gaza so much for his commitment to Peace and Justice!

Thompson comes to town to honor food banks but won't have a Health Care Town Hall meeting while he's here? It's THE biggest issue in the nation!
What a big fat weenie. |
