"Being a humble man, Albert never brought up the medals he was supposed to get for his years in the service, until one day his daughter found out about them and decided to do a little research."
*** It was not his daughters, who found out about his medals. It was his granddaughter Jayme Clinger, daughter of Richard & Sharon Clinger, who discover the history about the medals. |

Was Albert an American citizen? Or did he obtain he citizenship thru marriage to Isabel?
For we all know how these Europeans are. |
Aawww that's true love!!
Or convenience for the European had lots to gain! |
Or did Isabel marry him for access to the Post Exchange? Is that how Puerto Ricans are? He was from Chicago, maybe even born there. Maybe he was a natural born citizen of the US? |
From Chicago? Are you sure? Isabel is an American citizen; some women are so naive. |

I was pulling your leg, for old times sakes. How's your health, friend? Hope the change had brought the expected improvement . Jorge When you answer, please tell me about your impressions on Oregon's political landscape. What makes the headlines, over there? In the Immigration forum, there's this guy that goes by "Disgusted with Oregon". I asked him, why did the he go by that name and he came forward a "string" of complaints agaisnt life in that state... |
What was complaint #1? There are too many Puerto Ricans living there that don't pay federal taxes? LOL. |
Nah! that I was questioning this obssesion Americans have of bringing their European roots, instead of saying "I'm just American". The article is about this elderly couple, in which the lady states that she's Puerto Rican (not American of Puerto Rican roots or from Puerto Rico, as if Puerto Rico were a different citizenship) and the gentleman state that he "has Dutch and Irish roots". Never understood this "last name, many Americans, especially of European origin, use". If an American of any Latin American root, celebrates its heritage then "he/she is un American and resists the integration". Double standard, if I may add. Jorge |

Tienes razon. |

The state is politically bisected by a mountain range. Sound familiar? The East is Republican/conservative; the West is Democratic/liberal. This state's politics is about environmentalism. It is the cleanest place I have ever lived. But socially, it is extremely libertarian on both sides of the mountains. The libertarianism is much different on the opposing sides of the mountains. On the conservative side, libertarianism is rooted in property rights. On the liberal side, libertarianism is rooted in civil rights. But the state is extremely homogeneous. There are relatively few people of color here--much fewer than the national average. This is historically rooted--immigration has been discouraged here for decades. This attitude was exacerbated when Californians started to move here in the 60's. The economy is in shambles because the past has been based on the lumber industry. That industry is in trouble here--it belongs to the rain forests in the tropics that are being destroyed due to the cheap labor and ease of exploitation. |
