I would vote for Heather Wilson to be our governor, Senator, anything she ran for. While you were worrying about chickens she was doing everything she could for veterans and senior citizens in our country.

Wilson didn't follow the party line, her disagreements with Bush and Republican leaders is well documented, and for that alone I think she would make a good governor. And, I don't think she will put us hundreds of millions in the hole by wasting money on a choo-choo to nowhere and an Intergalactic Space Port that nobody will ever use.

I'd have voted for her too. I've no problem with her or her record. I was bummed that she bailed on running for Governor. I was also bummed when she stressed her desire for Nat'l Security, yet rejected being NMs Governor and the border issues that relate to Nat'l Security that come with that responsibility.

I do want to hear a lot more from the candidates, their views on issues, how they would address others and why it is I should vote for them. I certainly do not want to hear why it is I should NOT vote for their opponents.

This is one reason I won't vote for Wilson. She is a very negative campaigner. Always has been. I too want candidates to tell me why I SHOULD VOTE FOR them and and NOT be constantly slinging mud at their opponents. Wilson starts slinging mud with her first ad and it never gets better.

I've yet to find any politician who doesn't do negative campaigning. We've not gotten our message out to politicians yet on that issue to the extent they fully understand we want something different.

I've not always agreed with her but my personal experiences have gone beyond that. When the wife had questions about some personal things, she got personal responses from Wilson, including a personal phone call from her once when she was in town. Letters and emails to the other 4 federal politicians we had got nothing. This occurred a couple of times. I sent a couple emails too on foreign policy issues and got responses. Mine may have been canned or by a staffer (not positive) but at least I got responses vs silence like the other 4 gave me too.

You make some very good points CD. I am glad you had some positive experiences with Wilson. She has done some good things for veterans and seniors too, I don't deny that. She just started off on the wrong foot with me by her constant negative ads when she first ran for office and I have never cared for her since. I am glad she isn't running and I hope whoever gets the GOP nod is a good one because I don't care for Denish either. Same kind of mud slinger. I want to hear why I should vote for them. If they won't tell me, maybe it is because there is no good reason to do it.

Agreed. I'd sure like to see some positive changes in NM politics and positive changes for the betterment of most New Mexicans. It certainly would be a breath of fresh air! I'm really tired of the patrone/peon & P2P schemes we've had. Not that others have not had the same, just that NM can't get ahead until we address and get beyond 'politics as usual' here. We're behind in too many different categories, and meaningful ones, not just keeping up with the Jones categories.

Absolutely true! If we could indeed move forward, we would all benefit from it. The old "politics as usual" needs to finally pass away and maybe the answer is for new blood to come forward and show what they have to offer to clean up this stagnant mess that has been New Mexico's norm for so many years. So, I'm waiting, where is this new blood that we need? All there is right now is the same old names. We desperately some new faces with new ideas to raise us out of this rut New Mexico politics has been in for so many years. The GOP does have a couple of good possible candidates for Governor and that would be a start, but, we need people across the board, not just in the top spot. Don't ya think?

I've no problem w/ new faces and ideas at all. I've no problem with the party either really, PROVIDED they genuinely want whats best for the people. Right now its all about what's in it for them. And moreover a huge power grab. That's how I view our current federal administration - power grab.
If NM truly wants to make things better, they need to vote these bums out, but as long as they get the PORK and feed it to their specific constituents, those people will continue to vote them in. As long as the people get theirs, they could care less about the other people. Manny is a prime example of the entire state being hamstrung for many years by his voting constituents.
NM has so much potential to bring happiness and prosperity to so many. Its a shame we allow ourselves to continue like this.
