More than 2,640 MTSU students joined their family, friends, professors and other supporters in Murphy Center today to celebrate one of their greatest and most challenging accomplishments: earning a university degree.

Proud parents, spouses, siblings and other family members on Saturday packed the seats at colleges throughout Middle Tennessee and watched as loved ones received their diplomas.

Eleven cadets in the MTSU Military Science ROTC program will be commissioned as U.S. Army second lieutenants starting at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, at the Veterans Memorial site, adjacent to the Tom H. Jackson Building.

An estimated 2,625 students are expected to receive their degrees from MTSU on Saturday, May 11, during the university's spring 2013 commencement ceremonies.
