Gambling cannot be justified. The harm that comes to the person and their family is degrading to all. The taxpayers must pick up the bill for spousal abuse, child neglect and other damage done by gamblers. Gambling should be unlawful in the entire United States. Internet gambling is absolutely ridiculous.

The real problem is that all of those issues now occur. I do agree with most of what you say , however, outlawing gambling isnt going to be the answer.. Remember Prohibition of alcohol in the early 20 th century

Hey Joe - You are correct on the alcohol situation and look at all the misery and problems that result from alcohol and all the taxpayer money that goes with dealing with it. Do you suggest an answer to the problems related to alcohol, legal drug misuse, illegal drugs, illegal aliens and gambling?? The tax coming in on alcohol and gambling won't come close to the cost of government (you and me) in dealing with these things. Do you suggest that we legalize marijuana, cocaine, meth, etc. and legalize slot machines in hotels, restaurants, etc?? If we legalize those things now illegal, we could empty the jails and prisons of about 80% of the inmates. In my opinion, we are dealing with these things just like we are dealing with our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - just fiddling and piddling - with many of our finest young people getting killed and maimed for life. What is your opinion??

Gambling is not here at the moment. So what are you going to blame it on until the gambling does arrive? Tobacco Alcohol. Are you such an angel that you have no vices? No matter what the situation may be there is always going to be people placing blame its human nature.

Thanks for the reply. If you think about it, it is human nature for one to do what he wants and when he wants to do it - as Bill Clinton said "Just because I can". Even good humans with reasonable control, must have rules, regulations and laws by which to live. Even if a person is not religious, a reasonable person knows that without law and control, the strongest would rule and tell the rest of us what and when to do. Now -- if you figure the odds when gambling, a sensible and reasonable person would not give their money to someone else for nothing in return. Have a great day.
