A campaign to make a dilapidated pub in Woolsery an asset of community value has failed after the owners successfully appealed the decision. In May the Gazette revealed how residents had applied to Torridge District Council to register the derelict Farmers Arms, which has been closed since 2012, as an asset.
The MP for Torridge and West Devon, Geoffrey Cox, is urging theatre and cultural venues to take advantage of the new theatre relief tax. The scheme, which became available this month, can apply to a range of live performances including plays, musicals, opera, ballet and circus productions.
