ENTERPRISING pupils have won a charity trophy after turning a 20 donation into hundreds of pounds.

Children at Pickhill Primary, near Thirsk , beat 27 other schools across the north of England to win the Schools Enterprise Challenge, organised by the charity Blythswood Care, which helps families in need in Europe, Africa and Asia.

THE Highways Agency is warning motorists over the closure of a section of the A19 next week.

Work to resurface the northbound carriageway of the A19 between South Kilvington and Borrowby, near Thirsk , North Yorkshire, will take place from Monday to Saturday, August 9. An agency spokesman said: "We will be carrying out essential resurfacing work on the A19 to provide a smoother road surface and improve safety for drivers."
