Concerned residents object to new homes in Teesdale village

The application, submitted to Durham County Council, is for eight, three-bedroom, detached houses on land west of Marwood Terrace in Cotherstone. Concerns have been raised on the loss of green space and the lack of employment opportunities in the area, as well as the potential increase in pollution and noise from more traffic.

Police forces team up to crackdown on rural crime

The cross-border Farmwatch operation involved more than 100 volunteers and 100 police officers on overnight patrols in rural North Yorkshire, County Durham, Cleveland, Cumbria, Northumberland and Lancashire. As a result, a vehicle that had been involved in several crimes in the Dales was located on Bildershaw Bank in Teesdale and two people were arrested on suspicion of burglary and going equipped to steal.

Tributes paid to County Durham crash victims Grant Benson and Gordon Nicky Davidson

The families of two men who died when their car hit a tree in County Durham have released emotional tributes Mr Benson, of Bartlemere, in Barnard Castle, and Mr Davidson, of Leekworth Gardens, in Middleton, Teesdale, were travelling in a black Audi A4 along Westwick Road, Barnard Castle, towards Whorlton.
