Photo: Bill Smith Norfolk's first university technical college has opened its doors today to a pioneering group of 219 pupils as it attempts to address the skills gap for engineering in Norfolk.
Thousands of people have been inspired by music, dance and theatre through their experiences at Norwich arts venue The Garage over the last decade. The former Theatre Royal scenery store in Chapel Field North was transformed into a youth arts venue in 2004 and has gone on to achieve great things - championing young people, becoming a great hub for creativity and performance, and more recently branching out to reach people of all ages while keeping young people at its heart.
The Maritime Festival is not solely about ships - there is something for all ages as well as live music, street entertainment, arts, crafts, children's activities - and special food cooked up by experts. Festival activities and entertainment on South Quay are free but a donation of A 1 per visitor towards festival costs is welcomed.
A trio of valiant volunteers braved a bitter sea breeze on Sunday, and allowed themselves to be buried in cold, wet sand to raise funds for care charity Sue Ryder.
