The 19 towns and cities where house prices have risen by 250 per cent with seaside resort Southend-on-Sea seeing the biggest price growth Southend-on-Sea in Essex saw the sharpest rise, with average prices up 287 per cent since 2000 according to Land Registry figures. Only two of the 19 towns and cities - Salford and Sale, both in Greater Manchester - were in the North of England.
