Family of care home patient who died from brain haemorrhage

The family of an elderly dementia patient who suffered a fatal brain haemorrhage following a series of falls will face a wait to hear the coroner's verdict on her death. Evidence was given at an inquest today into the death of Betty Eunice Kyle, a resident at the Fountains Care Centre in Rainham, who died last June aged 84. After hearing from witnesses, Nadia Persaud, senior coroner for the eastern district of London, adjourned the inquest until next Thursday September 18 to consider her verdict.

Police helicopter searches for 'high-risk' missing Romford teen

Police are anxiously searching for a "high-risk" 19-year-old woman from Romford after she went missing late last night. A Metropolitan Police helicopter has been hovering over Rainham on the lookout for Nichola McCreedy who was last seen at 11.30pm in Spring Gardens, Romford.

Bird sanctuary Rainham Marshes becomes home to a very different flight of fancy this week as the reserve turns into a crime scene for a new drama. ITV's Chasing Shadows began last week, and scenes shot at the south Havering marshes feature in an episode aired this Thursday at 9pm.

Havering cabinet: Budget of A 60m cuts and tax rises is given thumbs up

Havering's cabinet members have unanimously backed budget proposals to cut 60million of services and to increase council tax by 2 per cent annually over the next four years. Only two opposition councillors at the Town Hall meeting last night proposed any real alternatives to cuts that include drastic spending decreases to libraries, social care and youth services.
