Landmark wedding for Chateau Impney

ONE couple's big day proved a small landmark in the town, as Francis Price and Aaron Gregson celebrated the first gay marriage to be held at the Chateau Impney last week. The couple met 10 years ago at a party in Seven Oaks in Kent, where Mr Price had been living at the time.

Culture minister to headline at LEP conference

SAJID Javid, secretary of state for culture, media and sport and MP for Bromsgrove, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership's annual conference. More than 200 delegates have already registered for the free event to take place on the morning of Friday, October 10 at the Chateau Impney Hotel, Droitwich.

Mad Hatter's tea party for Macmillan

STAFF and residents at Westmead Care Home are being transported down the rabbit hole for a tea party with a difference in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The home is organising an Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter's tea party for the charity fundraiser complete with large cardboard cut-outs of the characters, giant cups and saucers, tiered cake stands and bunting, as well as a visit from the mayor of Droitwich Councillor Bob Brookes.

Bromsgrove-based heathcare products supplier publishes new charity book

Kimal aims to use its 50th anniversary to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, a charity that grants wishes to children and young people aged three to 17 fighting life-threatening conditions. One of the events is the publication of a book entitled 12: What would you say to a 12 year old you? The book features the firm's employees' letters to themselves as a 12-year-old offering words and advice for the coming years.

Give a home to local cats

CAT lovers in Droitwich will have the opportunity to find a new feline friend this weekend, as the Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch of the RSPCA is holding a cat re-homing day. The day is taking place at the RSPCA's base in Teme Acre Cattery in Old Powick Bridge, St Johns, and all the cats in need of a home have been given medical checks as well as having been neutered, vaccinated and identity microchipped.

Droitwich man to stand trial for dangerous driving and possessing a prohibited weapon

A 52-YEAR-old man from Droitwich is to stand trial after he denied driving dangerously on a Worcestershire road and having a prohibited weapon. Patrick Healy, of Thatchers Place, Droitwich, also denies threatening to destroy or damage a car and two counts of possessing cannabis on May 16 this year.

Timely warning for landlords over HMRC campaign

Private client manager Anthony Middleton, who is based at the firm's Droitwich Spa office, said that fewer than 500,000 taxpayers are registered with the tax authorities as owning a second property yet the real number could be as high as 1.4 million. "This campaign was launched in September 2013 and although it's open-ended, that doesn't mean landlords should be complacent - they need to take action as soon as possible," said Mr Middleton.

Nurses team up and raise around 7,000 for premature baby charity

TWO nurses from Droitwich and Bromsgrove will walk the Great Wall of China in aid of the charity Bliss which cares for premature and sick babies. Ms Sarah Morris, 49, from Laurel Gardens in Barnt Green and Mrs Mary Passant, 54, of Bagehott Close will take part in a five-day trek taking place on Sunday, September 21. Mary said: "We're both over whelmed by the support we have received from family, friends and even strangers who have given time and money to support us.

Homeless man handed CRASBO

A HOMELESS Droitwich man has been issued with a Criminal Anti Social Behaviour Order following a spate of offences in the town. Jack Rowley was issued with the two-year order at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, August 22 following a conviction on Friday, July 25 for possessing an air gun in a public place.

Children's Theatre launches autumn season

Call for county's best young poets
