'Sexual predator' abused children

William Richardson, of Cleator Moor, Cumbria, was jailed at Carlisle Crown Court having last month been found guilty of rape and indecency charges. Richardson, known as Jack, committed the offences between 1976 and 1999.

Cleator Moor to be a creative hub of C-Art

Art, which sees artists, designers and galleries from across the county show off their work to the public, takes place from September 13 to 28. The project is celebrating droving and Richard will be installing white, hairy thumb sticks into the ground to represent a flock of sheep. They will be placed through Keekle Park, across the river, and into the Keekle Inn.

Cleator Moor businesses short-listed in CN awards

Two firms and two businesspeople from the town have been shortlisted in the annual awards that celebrate the achievements and enterprise of Cumbrian firms. Nuclear safety specialists Prima Uno and Safety Critical have been shortlisted in the New Business of the Year and Training and Development categories respectively, while Kurt Canfield is a finalist in the Businessperson of the Year category, and Marie Tattersall is selected in Rising Star.
