Cantenians given talk on Elana's El Salvador trip

THE Catenian Association Bursary Fund helped Elana Edwards with the cost of her gap year visit to provide voluntary work in El Salvador, and she recently joined Axminster Catenians for dinner and gave an excellent presentation of her experiences . AXMINSTER: Police seek witnesses to last month's Kilmington road death

Police have re-issued an appeal for witnesses to a fatal accident on the A35 at Kilmington. An 83-year-old pedestrian died on Thursday August 21st after being struck by a car, and a police spokesperson said: "The Serious Collisions Investigation Unit is keen to speak to any drivers travelling towards Axminster from Honiton at approximately 9pm who may have seen a pedestrian looking to cross the road at the location of The Old Inn.

AXMINSTER: Whitehall grant for more local homes

The second phase of a housing project in Axminster will soon start after the developer received a government loan. Devonshire Homes was given a A 4 million boost by the Department for Communities and Local Government in the first wave of loans under its Builders Finance Fund.

SEATON: Grove redevelopment plans finally confirmed

A plan to turn a Seaton nightclub into a housing, office, retail and gym complex has been confirmed. The plan to convert The Grove was leaked by district councillors Jim Knight and Peter Burrows this summer, and appeared on the latter's website.

Plans for job club start to take shape

The job club will be launched in September by Lyme Regis Development Trust, which operates from the St Michael's Business Centre and was set up in 1998 to promote the economic and social well-being of Lyme and the surrounding area.

Deep Purple legend Ian Gillan with the Guitars on the Beach house band

That was the message from Deep Purple legend Ian Gillan after he flew back from Deep Purple's US tour for a last rehearsal with Lyme Regis musicians for Guitars On The Beach on Saturday. Ian will lead the house band, who will lead the thousands of guitarists who are expected to be on the sand for the giant attempt for the record for the most guitarists playing together on one song.
