How a centuries old tradition has inspired a new two day festival
A two-day conference and celebration this weekend will mark the 120th anniversary of the arrival of a Belgian company and its foreign workers to mine the hills of the North Pennines. Alston Moor Historical Society is staging the event, backed by lottery funding, on Saturday and Sunday at Nenthead which will include presentations, exhibitions, a gala and mine trips.
