What I don’t understand is that she had no problem acting in a "Gay" movie (I Think I do (with Tuc Watkins)). The fact that she appeared in that led me to believe she had a more accepting attitude towards gays. This is obviously not the case. Had she said she wouldn’t play the part because Carlotta (her Character) would not react that way, I could certainly understand that. It is a leap to believe this character would have that reaction. But, she brought her personal beliefs into play and cited them as part of the reason she would not use the lines written for this storyline. I would have had a certain degree of respect for her in giving up a paycheck for her beliefs, but the fact that she had no problem taking a role in a gay film, kind of makes you think she is not the martyr she is pretending to be. She appeared in that movie because she thought it would advance her career, she is now trying to use this situation to garner publicity and do the same. This is a person I’ve watched for 14 years and a character I have enjoyed. It’s disheartening to see she is not the person I thought she was. I guess it’s naïve to think that someone would appear in a politically charged movie because she believed in the underlying message. For her, it was obviously just a job…
