Women Who Contracted HIV From Serial Dater Speak Out

These women have my sympathies, and I'm glad he was prosecuted, but...

I'd the first to say there is nothing wrong with being a sexually active woman, but I would also say to these women, shame on you!! Shame on you for NOT insisting on using a condom!!! This NOT ME mentality is the reason this disease is still spreading at an incredible rate.

The thing we all have to ask ourselves (and our sexual partners) is, if he's insisting we can have unprotected sex, how many of his previous partners was he also able to convince. And then ask yourself, if those women were willing to have unprotected sex with him, how many times did they have unprotected sex before him, and so on, and so on.

I have learned to carry my own condoms so there are no excuses. And to the man who refused the condom and continued to insist anyway? I walked away from you because I knew in my heart you wanted nothing but sex, and when I left I felt sorry for you. You are a sexually transmitted disease waiting to happen.

It seems the lesson to be learned here is that if you play with fire.......you can get burned.

I find it very hard to have sympathy for these women. They all had choices. They chose to have unprotected sex. Period. He never forced them to have sex and they kept coming back for more. I believe their lack of self esteem was a major contibutor. Before he started looking like an AIDS victim, he wasn't bad looking. These women were not very attractive to say the least and they all appear to very much older. It wasn't worth a little attention and sex to end up getting infected. The first clue should have been when he wanted to have sex with them. Sorry to sound so harsh, but it is what it is.

It's called safe sex for a reason and half the responsibility was on the women. The women consented and kept going back unprotected. Victimized you say? Not. Wow, real classy women hooking up with some dude from a bar and then want sympathy when they get std's and aids. I dont think so.

Do you feel sorry for all the barflys that contract stds? If not, what's the difference in barflys and these women?

I'm going to go ahead and assume you're male. Just a hunch. The way you talked about how these women were so hideous how dare they leave the house let alone get in bed with someone younger than them (by the way, this scumbag was considerably older than most of the women, or at least the same age).
The thing about this case was that several women were in long term relationships with him that they thought were exclusive, because he had told them as much. Many of them also asked him if he got tested, he said yes, every 6 mo to 1 year.
Now, think to your own experiences. Maybe you've had a wife for several years, or a long term girlfriend, and maybe she was on some type of birth control. You knew (or thought) that she got tested every year, and also knew she wasn't cheating on you.
Were you still using condoms every time? Be honest!
To compare them to chicks slumming around for some lowlife in a bar is grossly unfair. Many thought they were in committed relationships.
Usually I would agree, women should take responsibility for their own health and so on. But this man went out of his way to deceive these women and prey on their loneliness. The 45 years he received for the crime was too lenient, especially in a "hang 'em high" state like Texas where appeals for the death sentance are rarely even heard, even in the face of conflicting DNA evidence.
So, how many of you have NEVER had sex without a condom with a partner that you know and trust. Show of hands?
