2 Until they SNAP and GO OFF and attack and savage someone! Sorry, but these dogs are going to need to be regulated/banned and owners are going to have to carry special insurance. It's not worth it. |

2 I love dogs, too, but pit bulls are a different story. They have shamelessly been bred to be agressive, and should be eradicated. |

2 I agree with the pack leader line of thinking. The problem is, most pit bulls are not trained this way, and their agressive behavior comes out time after time, usually in a story about how some child was mauled and deformed for life. Eradicate the breed. |

1 My dogs are large boxers who are quite capable of hurting someone if they wanted to. However, as a responsible pet owner we have trained them every day of their lives so they know what is right and what is wrong behavior wise. Pet owners have an obligation to train their animals, you cannot rationally blame an animal when they misbehave. They are not equiped with the ability to analyze a situation and think through what the best course of action would be. If they could we would call them humans not animals. My pets are well behaved and sweet animals, however, you NEVER turn your back on a pet. A close friend, who is a plastic surgeon, has said countless times that he has repaired an uncountable amount of injuries from animals and the majority were pit bull attacks. Therefore, it is a double-edged sword of a topic. I believe how an animal is raised dictates most of it's behavior. However, it is difficult to ignore the testimonies of a 45 year practicing plastic surgeon. No matter how well trained your pet is, or how gentle they act they can turn on you in an instant. As with all things, perhaps using more caution and being mindful of all animals ability to be aggressive without notice would be a more sensable solution that killing off an entire breed. |
