Why should Serena get away from being punished for what she did to that poor lineswoman. How dare she
try to make a deal.Any other player would have to take their lumps & deal with it.Shame on them |

Hopefully, not-so-Serena meant that proviso as a condition of whatever judgement the ITF or WTA may hand down, not as a "threat" (i.e., it depends on what the ITF/WTA does, as opposed to her making a childish declaration). Chalk this one up to poor reporting and/or poor English skills.

Imposing a stiff punishment on a money drawing star takes courage of conviction. Guess how creative the ITF/WTA will be.

So Serena's looking for a deal, what else is new? As we all know, money talks, and celebrity athletes seem to be quickly forgiven for their misdeeds. The names Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Vick come to mind. Although their offenses were more serious, their status in the sports world allows them to keep making the 'big bucks'.
